Where is the leadership in Iowa when it comes to raising the Minimum Wage?  Private businesses, cities and some states recognize that Congress is broken and unable to move forward with a raise in the wage.  Since May we’ve seen , Maryland, Michigan, Hawaii, and Massachusetts all enact legislation to increase wages for their citizens. Where is Iowa?

Poll after poll of the general public shows we are on the right side of this debate yet their has not been, from what I’ve seen, any attempt to move this through the Legislature.

As a business person, who pays in excess of the Federal Minimum Wage, it makes sense that increased wages = increased purchasing power = a rising economy.

Perhaps it’s time for us, as Iowa Democrats, to hold the flame a bit closer to the feet of our  leadership and demand that they take action and raise the minimum wage.
