(“Backers of Health Law Say It Has Been Blessing”, Feb. 12-DM Register) Three southwest Iowans joined Senator Rob Hogg to speak at the Capitol yesterday and tell their moving stories about the life saving benefits of Obamacare. These Iowans were asked to speak in order to give them the opportunity to explain how Obamacare has literally been a blessing for their families. They are thankful their families will no longer be forced to live in fear of unobtainable insurance coverage as their families face life threatening illness.
Jennifer Herrington, a social worker from Clarinda told about Iowans she has helped find affordable health care for the first time as a direct result of the law.
Lisa Vetter, of Red Oak who is a breast cancer survivor explained how she lost her insurance coverage and is now covered thanks to Obamacare.
Barry Lovig, of Red Oak discussed his wife’s battle with pancreatic cancer and how they have had their Insurance premiums cut from $1340 a month to $480 a month thanks to Obamacare.
The opponents of Obamacare have solely whined about the inconvenience caused to the small percentage of insurance policy holders that were canceled and replaced by their insurance companies even though most provided inadequate health coverage.
These three families spoke on behalf of the millions of Americans who have already signed up and been given the opportunity to protect their families from life threatening illness. Democrats can be very proud of our commitment to help all these Iowans finally be empowered to protect their families with affordable health care.
